Robin Little

Robin Little is the Owner of HPC Educational Consulting in Clayton, North Carolina. She retired from Johnston County Schools as the Chief Business Officer, with responsibility over the finance and human resources functions of the district. In this role for one of the largest school systems in North Carolina, Robin provided oversight for all district recruitment and hiring, employee benefits, and the evaluation process for all district employees; reviewed personnel issues and made disciplinary recommendations to the Superintendent; and managed the staffing budget among other duties. She also has much experience in providing professional development to many employee groups including substitute teachers, teacher assistants, teachers, and school and district administrators.

Robin began her career as a high school science teacher with a philosophy that learning should be experiential. She wrote and implemented the curriculum for a research-based Environmental Science class in which students studied and made recommendations regarding environmental issues in the community. She served as the advisor for her school’s Envirothon Team, which won three state championships and participated in national competitions.

Robin received many teaching honors, including Johnston County Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for North Carolina Teacher of the Year. In this role, she served on the team that developed an updated Mentor Training professional development program that was adopted by the state of North Carolina. She was also selected to assist with the development of the NC Teach curriculum, a training program for lateral entry teachers implemented in several universities across the state. Her work with teachers in this role contributed to her belief that having an effective teacher in every classroom is a critical function of the learning process for students. In her many years of experience in the Human Resources field, Robin came to recognize that school administrators must be willing to do the hard work necessary to hire the right people, assign them to a role in which they can be successful, provide assistance to help them grow professionally, and, when necessary, take disciplinary action.

Robin has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Campbell University with additional graduate level coursework from North Carolina State University. She is a third generation educator and strongly believes that all children deserve the education that will allow them to be successful adults. She has been married for 35 years and has two sons, both of whom have careers in the education profession.
